Troy Ontko looks at life differently than most people.

Many people advise on the tools of the marketplace that we manage everyday: but Troy also looks at what we AREN’’T doing, and finds solutions to fill those gaps.

When he Managed Car Dealerships, the hated the hassle of keeping track of all the Rebates and Lease programs available: so he started a company that kept track of those programs for the dealership. He made the Rebate System that he wished the Auto Manufacturers made but didn’t.

As cars and trucks were advertised online, he upgraded his system to allow Rebates and other programs to be included in those ads. This made his company attractive to Cox Automotive, the parent of AutoTrader.com who acquired Troy’s Company.

When Troy was angered by buying a $12 six pack of craft beer only to find he didn’t like the beer, he started the “Beer Grotto”: a place where you can taste beer before you buy it and tote it home.

And now Troy’s focus is on Skipstone: a way for brands to engage with consumers that emulates the old way, where a consumer simply asked a knowledgeable professional a direct question and instantly received a correct, professionally delivered, answer.

You will never hear Troy say “C’est la vie” or “Such is Life”: when he finds room for improvement he does just that: Makes the Improvement.
